Google's Cast Companion Library (CCL) is a framework for building video applications for Android. It works on a variety of Android platforms, including the Chromecast. It supports both sender and receiver devices, and it's incredibly easy to use. The libraries are available in the Android Market, and you can get them directly from the Google Play store. To get started, download the free CCL trial and check out the documentation for more details.
The CCL version of the library contains a "stats" page. Here, you can see metrics such as the number of users, devices, and sessions. The analytics page also provides a table containing the data for the last day. The devices and sessions tab shows the number of devices that have launched the application. The average playback time per session shows the amount of media played during each session. It is also possible to customize captions in earlier versions of Android.
The CCL and CAF have the same dependencies. If your app uses media streaming, you need to install the MediaRouter v7 support library. Both libraries require the new Cast framework, available in Google Play services 9.2.0 or later. Both are compatible with Android, and their dependencies are similar. They are free and open source. While they are both free, they do have one major drawback: the UI of the Android app.
